Dog’s Face (side view)

Let’s start with a side view of a cartoon dog’s face. We will draw the body later.

Lightly sketch an oval and an egg for the dog’s ear and head. Notice that they overlap.

Draw two small ovals for the eye.

Darken part of the eye. Sketch a curved line to begin the nose.

Draw a curved line for the nose tip, with a small oval inside it.

Darken part of the nose tip. Add a curved line for the mouth.

LOOK carefully at the final drawing! Add two hair lines. Erase extra sketch lines. Darken the final lines. Color your dog any color you wish.

Dog’s Face (front view)

Now, let’s draw a front view of a dog’s face.

Sketch two overlapping ovals.

Sketch two ovals for each eye. Sketch another oval for the nose.

Sketch curved lines to begin the ears. Darken part of the eyes and nose.

Sketch two more ovals for the ends of the ears.

Draw a curved line and a straight line to make the tongue.

LOOK at the final drawing! Erase extra sketch lines. Darken the final lines. Add color.

Dog’s Body

Let’s draw a body for the dog. When you draw his head, make sure you leave plenty of room on the paper for his body.

Draw the side view of the dog’s face again. (See above for details.)

Sketch an oval for the body.

Draw six straight lines for the legs.

Sketch ovals and curved lines for the feet.

Draw a tail.

LOOK at the final drawing! Erase extra sketch lines. Darken final lines. Add curved lines to his feet for paws. Add a couple of curved lines near his tail to make it look like it’s wagging! Add color.
